Ao Chalong Villa and Spa

On this trip to Phuket, we searched for a 2-night stay from agoda and found Ao Chalong Villa and Spa. I visited Phuket a few times in the past but never considered any hotel in Chalong bay before. I thought that a pier was not the kind of scene I’d enjoy. Well, it turned out wrong. When we arrived at this place, we fell in love with it instantly. It ‘s just a small, cozy place on the seashore, with all the necessary amenities, swimming pools, breakfast, and the services superb. You can never find a private stay like this on well-known beaches like Patong, Karon, or Kata (unless you could afford the price of 5-star hotels like Kata Thani, of course).

If there’s something that needs improvement about this place, that must be the small road to the hotel that’s quite rough and bumpy. Other than that, we give it a 2 thumb up.

Lotus Pang Suan Kaew Hotel

We traveled to Chiangmai twice this year. For both trips we chose to stay at Lotus Pang Suan Kaew Hotel. The most convincing reasons are the location and price. The hotel is right on the beginning of Huay Kaew Road, the same place as Central Kaad Suan Kaew. It is very convenient since the Huay Kaew road is the one that passes Chiang mai university, zoo, and up to Doi Suthep. Tn the opposite direction is Chiangmai city center. A tuk-tuk might ask you around 60 - 80 baht from the hotel to Ta-pae gate. (when having some extra time and the weather nice enough, I prefer walking along the canal that surrounds the city.)

The room is clean, air-conditioned, with Doi-suthep view outside the window. The off-season rate could be as low as around 800 baht/night including breakfast. Hotel facilities are above average for such room rate. They have swimming pool, sauna, restaurants etc.

Grand Pacific Sovereign Resort & Spa

December 11-12, 2011: The flood situation in Thailand has improved. This weekend we decided to take a short vacation. Just about 3 hour drive down south, Cha-am and Hua-hin areas are quie popular for such purpose. The most convenient route is to drive along Rama II, until it meets with Petchkasem, the main highway to southern Thailand.

I searched a one-night stay from agoda and found Grand Pacific Severeign Resort & Spa . With attractive discount and positive hotel reviews, I finally booked a sea-view room. Good choice, indeed. We loved the place instantly after arrival. Everything was beautifully decorated, the room, pool areas, garden. There were so few hotel guests at this period, perhaps because of the recent flood.
