Wualai Market, Chiangmai

If you happen to be in Chiangmai on some Saturday night and want to shop for local handmade, Wualai road is a nice place to try. It's located at one side of the road that surrounds the Chiangmai city (the same side that exits to the airport). The area is well-known for silverware. In fact, you could visit the Wat Sri Suphan on this road and see the silver temple. Beside silver, there are all sorts of crafts along the road on Sunday night. It's called "Wualai walking road," which means you have to find parking outside and shop on foot. It could be crowded during high season and when the weather is right, such as in December. Enjoy local artists such as the blind man band sitting in a row.

Night Shopping in Bangkok

Bangkok has many interesting night markets on the streets and open areas where you could enjoy shopping, especially during weekends. Among our favorites are Tarad RotFai (railway flee market) close to Kampangpetch MRT station, Tarad Nad Major around Major Cineplex, Ratchada, and Ratchada market at MRT Ladphrao station. Clothes and other personal belongings are common, but collectors could also find antiques and rare items.

Some of these have their own information sites, but quite often they post in Thai. For example, you can visit facebook page of Tarad Rodfi.
